Ned came to us as a personal referral from another family whose son had recently gotten into college with Ned's assistance. Our experience and that of our three children was very positive. Complete confidence, a wealth of knowledge of schools, curriculum and personal associations with key persons within schools too. Ned's approach is understated and relaxed, confident and very enjoyable. He was a very key asset to us in our children's college selections.
I knew many kids whose college “counselors" were, in my opinion, over-involved in the process. They spent a lot of time trying to get students into college through alumni networks or friends of friends, trying to make the process easier for the aforementioned golden child. Ned won't get you into college - that's work you've gotta do yourself. What he will do is much more valuable.” (graduated from the University of Delaware: accepted at BU, Northeastern, UVM, and Colorado)
Ned is the superhero of college admissions.
He's worked at enough universities to be knowledgeable about the admissions process and what it is that admissions officers look for in a seemingly ambiguous process. He doesn't help students get into "the best" university - that's not his goal. He could do that, but it would be a great disservice to his actual skill set: helping students find the best university for them, a place to realize their aspirations and goals over the next four years, a learning institution that will support their future growth.
Ned helped my twin brother and me to perfectly workshop our essays and applications, turning a grueling process into something that wasn't nearly as stressful, and actually enjoyable! His expertise led me to enroll in a program across the country, one outside the choices of my peers (both historically and contemporaneously), and a place which has turned out to be better than I could have ever imagined. College admissions is not an easy process, especially with an ever-growing number of options across the country and world for undergraduate and graduate level education, but Ned's seemingly endless knowledge of the options and the process along with his bubbly personality(!) were the greatest aids in helping us to navigate the process. After all, isn't it about the journey? (graduated from the University of Minnesota: accepted at BU, Northeastern, UVM, UNH, Wisconsin, Washington, and Colorado).
Not only is Ned a superb coach in choosing your first college, but his advice and guidance rings just as true the second time around. I worked extensively with Ned during the period in which I was applying as a transfer student, shifting my life from the West Coast back to the East, trying to properly align my academic and extracurricular interests with the right institution, the right fit for me. When I couldn't get a sense for a school's culture and wasn't able to tour and shop around the same way one can in high school, Ned sprang into action with a wealth of experience that can only be acquired in spending years working at colleges across the country. Having him with me at the helm during my second round of applications felt like having a true co-pilot, a sounding board, and a truly informed, level-headed perspective. It was Ned who ultimately allowed me to really think through this decision in a responsible and thoughtful way and were I to start over, I would have involved him from the very start!… she transferred to Brown University from the Claremont McKenna Colleges (Scripps College) and is now at Duke University Medical School.
Ned Quigley has been immensely beneficial in helping all three of my sons sort out the entire college admissions process and gain admission to their first-choice school. He is extremely knowledgeable, has reasonable fees, and works very easily with students of every academic level, as well as their parents. In short, Ned is the single best college guidance counselor on the planet!

Ned saw our son as more than the sum of his grades, test scores and extracurricular activities. He took the time to get to know him, and in doing so, he helped us identify schools that would be a good fit for our son, and helped our son present himself as an authentic and unique applicant. The result of working with Ned during the entire college application process was that our son was admitted to, and thrived at, the school of his choice.
